Gwent Archives collects, preserves and makes accessible archives relating to the are it serves
Welcome back to Gwent Archives! We’re pleased to be opening our doors again for pre-booked appointments and look forward to seeing you.
As a result of Coronavirus restrictions new procedures are in place to ensure the safety of visitors and staff. To open safely, the number of researchers we can accommodate is reduced so you’ll need to make an appointment and order your documents ahead of your visit.
To allow for the quarantining of archive material, all items you wish to use will need to be ordered in advance of your visit. Please use our online catalogues, Archives Hub and Discovery to identify items you would like to order, and feel free to contact us at email@example.com if you need any assistance. Each researcher can order up to 6 separate items from the archive collections. We are not able to provide access to library, microfilm or computer resources or uncatalogued material.
You will also need to sign up for an Archive Card in advance of your visit. Your card will be issued during your visit, you’ll just need to bring identification from the list.
If you any have questions relating to your visit contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Booking your appointment
Please see our opening hours and complete our booking form. All visits must be booked at least 4 working days in advance, and each booking is for one person. You are welcome to bring someone with you, and a separate booking will need to be made in their name. To allow other researchers the opportunity to book, visits are restricted to one per week.
You will receive a confirmation email from us once your booking and documents are confirmed, please do not make travel arrangements before you hear from us.
